My Freshman Year
While reading My Freshman Year I found her decision to enroll in the college the she teaches at to be very strange. Not only would a much older women be living in the same place as many younger people, but also exposed to their everyday lives and the differences in generations. I don't think that she could of had any idea what she was going to experience because from my personal experience, students act a lot more appropriate in a classroom rather than in their dorm rooms. Although there is many differences in how the generations act and what they do in their spare time, there was also a similarity that popped out at me. I thought it was interesting how she said that on her Welcome Weekend that there was an overload of information thrown at her about the college and everything, which I can also relate too because on my Welcome Weekend I felt the same way.
On Ethnography
The main point of this reading was basically explaining the background of ethnography. There is not much to relate to about this reading because I am not an Ethnographer and do not find it to be an interesting topic at all. The only thing I can relate to is that Roger had to practice juggling to master it and I had to practice certain things in soccer to master them. Also one interesting part of the reading was that kids in Africa are taught multiple languages before they even go to school, but only use 2 of them in school. I found that interesting because many kids in America only know 1 language and in my school we were not even offered a language class until 8th grade.
